Go Bears!

This is just to clarify that I'm not a total St. Louis fan. Although my true sports love is baseball and that means the Cardinals, I'm mostly a fan of my home town teams.

I'm not a football fan. I like to tell people that my life would be better if football fell off the end of the Earth. Mostly I use that line to frustrate the fans. Still, living in Chicago its hard not to know what is going on in the NFL world. Even when I make a conscious effort to avoid it the knowledge creeps in. Tonight, the Bears (5-0) take on the Arizona Cardinals (0-5). I won't see the game. I'll be paying attention to that other team with the same name and playing volleyball later in the night.

I am "rooting" for the Bears though. Why? Because the city is a great place to live and play when one of the local teams is winning. People are happier. I know that sounds kind of foolish but its true. The out come of the Chicago sports teams' season actually influences the over all mood of the residents. In addition, people are just having more fun. The bars are infused with a camaraderie that is not there at other times.

So GO BEARS!
