I Must Be Missing Something

I had a brief thought this morning (shocking, I know). Why hasn't Judy Baar Topinka agreed to debate Green Party candidate Rich Whitney? Sure I know neither party likes to acknowledge the existence of any other candidate. But I see a couple of upsides.

First, with the media all in a huff about the lack of debates she could get some positive press for agreeing to a debate. It would conversely put heat on Gov. Rod Blagojevich (hence forth known as Gov. Gonad) to get out of his spider hole.

Second, JBT gets to take some free shots at Gonad in the debate. Sure Whitney is going to hit her but he's also going to be thankful that she "allowed" him the forum. That could temper him somewhat. He'll also be out to smack around Gonad.

Third, Whitney is a lefty. He's not going to be getting votes from JBT supporters. What he can do is steal votes from Gonad. By letting the public see him she could increase her chances of winning.
