Bigger Than Any Game or Sport

Minutes into the start of April 29, 2007, St. Louis Cardinals reliever Josh Hancock died in a car accident. The 29 year old Hancock was a member of the World Series team. I remember him as a quiet, unheralded star. The relievers, all of them, were the reason the Cardinals won the world series. The Josh and the rest of the bullpen held opponents each and every day. I'll remember his baby-faced looks. I thought he was a kid, no more than 21 or 22.

So long, Josh. I didn't know you but thank you for making my life a little happier last fall.
