Today's Stat

These are from an NPR story on Cook County population changes. The changes are all from the year 2000.

600,000
people have moved out of Cook County to some other location in the U.S. The majority moved to other suburban counties.

260,000
people have moved into Cook County from other countries.

2,000,000
people have moved into and out of Cook County.

The net loss of population in Cook County is the the 3rd largest for any county in the U.S. The net loss of people has reduced the total income of county residents by $1.2 Billion.
