A Streak Broken

Last night I went to see a movie, Beowulf, at the IMAX theater on Navy Pier. It was the first time I've been to a movie since 2004 when I was convinced to see Team America. The Fates have mercy, that was a terrible fucking movie.

Beowulf was not bad. The IMAX theater was playing it in 3D. WOW! I was blown away by the 3D effect. I've seen a couple CGI 3D movies clips on the internet which aren't really very 3D. Other than that I remember watching The Creature From the Black Lagoon on Son of Svengoolie. That was on my parents 19" TV and was less than spectacular. But this 3D blew me away. I have this nervous reaction when anything gets near my eyes (every one does but mine is quite pronounced). Early on there was a man on horseback pointing a spear towards the audience and I had to take the 3D glasses off until that scene was over.

The over all movie was... alright. It has the best masturbation scene in of any movie outside of porn or Cinemax. But I repeat myself. And Agelina Jolie, in body paint, in 3D. WOWSERS!

One problem I had was that the movie seemed very, very cartoonish. Not in story line but in look and feel. I suspect it was because they spent so much effort to make it 3D. I wouldn't necessarily recommend it unless you haven't seen modern 3D in which case you should certainly go see it. In 3D.
