Random Baseball

Maybe I will make it a more regular thing. I mean afterall, the blog is named after my baseball team preference. We'll just have to play it by ear to see if it holds up.

Mike Shannon on Don Drysdale: "Don Drysdale would consider an intentional walk a waste of three pitches. If he wants to put you on base, he can hit you with one pitch."

OUCH! (Not for the squeamish.)

Sweeet Lou says Edmonds needs to start hitting. How can I put this...
Dear Cubs Organization,

Jim Edmonds was released from the worst team in the National League because he wasn't hitting. As stated, I'm an Edmonds fan from way back but you knew what you were buying when you made this move. Don't act surprised.

Sincerely,
LP Cards Fan

From the Sox game I was at last Tuesday. All the pictures from the night are here.
Pitch In The Air 2

A friend of mine and I always joke about trading a bad player for a Coke vending machine. The minor league Calgary Vipers just traded RHP John Odom to the Laredo Broncos for 10 maple baseball bats.

I watched about 5 or 6 innings of Cubs, Pirates series this weekend. During which time I saw the Pirates make two errors and at least one mental error. It turns out, as of Sunday, they had made 45 errors in 49 games. No es bueno.

Drysdale really was the epitome of his era.

Watching baseball full of errors is truly brutal. I hate seeing pros make the same mistake I see kids make in our Dizzy Dean league.
