1. 10/06: The three teams with the highest payroll (NYY - $209M, Tigers - $138.7M, NYM - $138.3M) did not make the post season. The team with the 2nd lowest (Tampa - $43.8M) advances to the ALDS. Obviously a bigger payroll generally gets you into the playoffs more often than a lower payroll but it's good to see the little guy getting his.
