Happy Birthday, Grandma.
She would have been 106 today. For more than half my life and especially in college she was a great confidant, sounding board, and friend. She was a child of The Great Depression. She married three times, had 5 children, and 13 grandchildren. I'm number 12. She was still running her own upholstery shop into her mid 80s. Prior to that she worked in a shoe factory and had made bath tub gin during Prohibition.
It's hard to believe it's been 13 years since she passed. I have so many fond memories that I couldn't choose just one to relate. Tonight, I shall raise a toast.
Cheers, Grandma.
