Corporal Jason Dunham, 1982 - 2004

A week or so ago I wondered, rhetorically, what kind of person would endanger his own life to save a stranger from a speedning subway train.

Today, President George W. Bush presented the parents of Marine Corporal Jason Dunham with The Congressional Medal of Honor that had been posthumously awarded to their son. Corporal Dunahm sacrificed himself to save his men from a hand grenade.
In April 2004, Dunham, a 22-year-old corporal, received a report that a Marine convoy had been ambushed, according to a Marine Corps account. Dunham led his men to the site near Husaybah, halting a convoy of departing cars. An insurgent in one of the vehicles grabbed him by the throat when he went to search the car and the two fought. A grenade was dropped, and Dunham covered the explosive with his Kevlar helmet, which along with his chest plate absorbed some of the blast.

Shed a tear for Corporal Dunham and his family.

Get mad as hell that this heroic, young man was put in this situation for a lie.
