Standing Tall

A picture from the NYT via The Swamp. A U.S. soldier is striding through the chaos after a bombing where a shooter is firing shots at the paniced crowd. Seemingly, an Iraqi boy is taking cover behind the soldier.

I loudly oppose this war and dispute most, if not all, of the reasons people give for why we went to war and why we stay. But make no mistake our soldiers inspire and awe me on a daily basis. Our military has defended our freedoms and those of countless others. This particular soldier, a member of the 82nd Airborn, is not taking cover as he is possibly looking for the man shooting.

This is why those of us that aren't fighting had yesterday off.

Thank you. Not for the day off. Thank you for my freedom. Thank you for my life and my lifestyle.
