Pseudo Theories
So, this guy is suggesting that our solar system was part of a different galaxy that is currently colliding with the Milky Way and the results of this collision is the ultimate cause of global warming.
I can say this much, he has picked a real occurance to base his theory on. The Dwarf Sagatarius Galaxy is in mid collision with the Milky Way. And it is a pretty cool thing that I was unaware was happening. The Milky Way, a large galaxy, has such a large gravitational force that it is pulling apart this smaller galaxy and the star systems are becoming part of the Milky Way.
But that is about as far as it goes. Reading this it was easy to quickly dismiss the notion on time frame. A collision of galaxies takes millions (billions maybe?) of years to occur. Global Warming, that which we are worried about, has been a phenomenon of the last 100 years and particularly accelerated in the past couple of decades.
Of course, probably one of the most glaring statements that lets me throw this out with the bath water is this, "How fast we turn and exactly where and how fast the changes are going to happen are simply not predictable." Ahem! Please note that Johannes Kepler came up with the formulas for this kind of calculation about 400 years ago. (About 225,000,000 years, by the way)
I've spent some time trying to even find any where else on the web that states our solar system was once part of the Dwarf Sagatarius Galaxy. It's not out there. That kind of news would not have been lost on me.
But if you can get to the end of the blog post you find this about the author, "Matthew Perkins Erwin is a researcher, technogeek, inventor, and recording artist." Doesn't exactly inspire confidence in his pseudo-theories.
