Rearming
In 2005 and 2006 my softball bat of choice was a Demarini Ultimate Weapon. It lasted for two years (5 softball seasons) and was generally the bat of choice for most of the team. I've got to think that bat has been used to hit 500 to 600 softballs. It lived up to its name.
This spring the bat just didn't have the pop. It sounded dead. So I went out and bought another ultimate weapon. It has been good and I've hit well but just never had the same feel. The ball never seemed to jump off the bat the way it had with the previous model.
Then two weeks ago Scotty on the Sunday team showed up with this green Miken, a model 282. I took it to the plate for a couple of at bats and the ball flew off the bat! I used it exclusively this past weekend, went 4 for 4, and had a huge drive for the game winning hit.
Scotty called me 20 minutes ago from a Dick's Sporting Goods. They had one in stock ($129) and asked if I wanted it. I've got a new bat. A Green Monster.
