Chicago Housing (Mine)
As noted previously, I've lived in the Lincoln Park neighborhood for nine years now. One of the buildings run down and I won't be surprised the day I go buy and find it is torn down and a new, boring brick condo building is under construction. My current residence is up for sale by the landlord and I plan to buy a condo (maybe one of those boring brick gusy) by this time next year. All that in mind I thought I'd do a little photo blog of the apartments I've lived in. So, in numerical order, here they are.
1257
A boring, run of the mill 5 flat. A three bedroom on the first floor and two, two bedrooms on the 2nd and 3rd floors.
A bad roommate made it even more unbearable. I was there for a year and got the hell out of dodge. One good thing came of it, though. I discovered Tavish Bar and Grill. Best burger I've ever had in the city and Mike, the owner, is really cool.
1818
My first place. I lived in the three bedroom on the first floor / basement for several years before moving into the one bedroom on the second floor. By far the most run down but I think I had the most fun while living there. Of course, I've aged since then too.
2020
Current digs that are up for sale. Hopefully, this will be my last rental and I will be able to buy something in the next year.
2626
Lived here for a year. The Brown/Red Line tracks were maybe 10 feet from my bedroom window. It was like the Blues Brothers. For the first month I only slept "well" when I was drunk. Also, I was forced out for about 2 weeks when an arsonist lit the back deck on fire (it stopped El service for a night). Fortunately the old place is pretty much all brick and fought off the flames until the CFD arrived.
