I've Been Waiting For You!

For 20 long years!

I had affairs with some of your larger, domesticated cousins. Finally I couldn't wait any longer and have started a love affair with a little German girl. She's been good to me and we look good together.

Then finally you show up. It's been a long wait. And you strut your silky body across the show floor and tease me by staying just out of touch.

And not just me. Thousands of others have waited too!




The first automobile magazine I ever bought was in 1987. I was 16 and beginning my long love of the automobile. The cover story was about the Nissan Skyline GT-R. There was nothing but praise and speculation on how soon Nissan would bring this screaming sports sedan to the U.S. That magazine is probably in a box in the attic of a house in Lisle. Assuming the old place hasn't been torn down.

I'm not the enthusiast and car nut I was years ago. I've known for a while that the GT-R was coming but I've long since stopped reading the car mags regularly (at one point I think I had subscriptions to 5 different car mags). But my love has not totally waned. When I saw this beauty at the auto show Monday I practially drooled.

She's just beautiful.
