- Zorn has a good point.
- The Cubs game on Monday 08/04 was delayed once for rain and finally canceled in the 8th inning. I was surprised they even restarted it with the intensity of the storm. I've been told that 3" of rain fell in an hour and I'd believe it. A coworker also said when one of the lightening strikes was close to Wrigley an outfielder ripped off his gold chains and ran to the dug out.
- A tale from the front. Late Sunday night three White Sox players wandered into one of my favorite watering holes. The bouncer didn't recognize them in street clothes and started to card them but the manager did and let them in. The Sox had just suffered a tough defeat on Sunday that included a bench clearing brawl. They asked if they could just sit in the back and get drunk. The manager closed off the section and let them do their thing.
- Going into the Wednesday, 08/06, game against the Dodgers, the Cardinals have fielded 103 different lineups in 115 games. To me, this lack of consistency is not the mark of a team that is destined to go deep into the playoffs.
