What I Heard

Listening to the Charlie Gibson interview with Sarah Palin.

  • "We can't second guess Israel" if it attacks Iran. This is one of the big problems with Shrub and his ilk - and have no doubt, McCain and Palin are. They don't think critically about decisions. They make a snap judgement (how many times did she say "we can't blink?") using what ever combination of gut, feeling, and religious fervor they have and never look back. They made the decision. It must be right. Move on.

  • She wants Georgia to be a part of NATO and is willing to go to war with Russia over it. Really? (Another) Hot war? And this time with Russia? Over a tiny corrupt country with any number of historical disputes with Russia and she's ready to start shooting?

  • She hemmed and hawed and hedged and obfuscated because she knew she was in a trap but when Charlie Gibson asked her if it is OK to launch attacks across the border into Pakistan she said it was. Obviously this matters because McCain has criticized Obama for saying the exact same thing (around February I think) and just in the past week or so U.S. troops have done just that. Under George W. Bush's command.

  • She just straight up lied about what she was just quoted as saying! (Out troops are "on a mission from God.") Charlie asked her about the statements she made in Church and showed the video of her saying out troups are doing God's work. Without missing a beat she said she was quoting Abraham Lincoln.
