Breaking News!

GOT HIM! Gov. Blagojevich (D - Gonad) has reportedly been taken into federal custody this morning.

UPDATE:
From the Tribune

On the issue of the U.S. Senate selection, federal prosecutors alleged Blagojevich sought appointment as Secretary of Health and Human Services in the new Obama administration, or a lucrative job with a union in exchange for appointing a union-preferred candidate.

Blagojevich and Harris conspired to demand the firing of Chicago Tribune editorial board members responsible for editorials critical of Blagojevich in exchange for state help with the sale of Wrigley Field, the Chicago Cubs baseball stadium owned by Tribune Co.

Blagojevich and Harris, along with others, obtained and sought to gain financial benefits for the governor, members of his family and his campaign fund in exchange for appointments to state boards and commissions, state jobs and state contracts.

How stupid can this man be? Really, its one thing to sell appointments to obscure state boards. But really? He tried to see Obama's Senate seat? He tried to force the Tribune Co., one of the largest media companies in the country, to fire people he didn't like? This is nominally a real democracy. This is not Russia and Blago is not Putin.

As a cop friend of mine pointed out the Feds don't move on someone until they have everything wrapped up neatly, bow and all. He predicted a news conference in time for the noon news. Fitzgerald is holding one at 11AM. Feds are predictable. My friend also thought the sealed indictment and the early morning arrest implied the Feds were concerned about evidence being destroyed.

UPDATE 2:
From Fitzgerald's presser: Blago granted Childrens Memorial Hospital money in exchange for a $50K contribution to his campaign. When he didn't get his money he looked into the possibility of retracting the grant.

Looking at Arch Pundit's sight, he is posting parts of the indictment. Blago used his HOME PHONE to conduct his criminal business. He is TEH STOOPID!

UPDATE 3:
A nice wake up call. At 6AM this morning Blago answered his home phone. It was the head of the Chicago FBI office telling him that there were 2 agents in front of his home with an arrest warrant.
