Walk Home

I just walked home from work: Prudential Building to Lincoln and Armitage. I estimate it at about 3.5 miles It took just over an hour but that included a stop at a store on Michigan Ave. So probably about 45 mintues of walking.

I know this sounds crazy. According to the Tribune it is currently 5 degrees outside. But I was heavily bundled and it was invigorating.

My route took me up Wabash to State an on north. I crossed North Avenue and cut through Lincoln Park. I live right off the park and just don't take enough advantage of it. It's a beautiful place. As I was talking through today the sun was just setting. All I could see was the reddish tint wrapping around the buildings that border the park along Clark Street.

While I walked through my first impression was of cold dead winters but that's not entirely true. Although my brain may have been frozen at this point. In the leafless trees are the remnants of birds' nests. All different sizes and it harkens the coming spring: when the leave will bud, the grass will be green and the birds return. I'm looking forward to it but as my outlook brightened the beauty of the park in winter came through.

I grabbed three shots with my camera phone. (I really need to get a decent camera if I'm going to keep this up.) Here's the two that came out best.

This one looks east towards the lake at the club house by the softball fields.

This is an old tree on the south end of the pond by the petting zoo. I just loved this tree. At first glance it can look bowed and old but it's strength comes through after a moment. This old boy has seen a great deal in its lifetime.
