Want To Buy Something
It's an itch. I've been wanting to buy something for a month or two now. And it's not just one thing that's on my mind. I want to buy myself a toy. A gadget. A "look what I just got" item. I have this phase about once every 12 to 18 months.
This is not a desire to go shopping. No offense intended, but that's a girly thing. I don't want to walk store to store looking for the right pair of jeans or a nice sweater. No, when I need clothes I walk into a store, find the right size and color and buy it. Never mind that it might be 20% cheaper next door. That's a waste of time.
No I want to buy something.
I've been thinking about a plasma TV. 40 inches of high definition, fluid action, crisp pictures, etc, etc, etc. The costs are waaaaay down from where they were just a couple of years ago. What used to cost 7 or 8 grand can be bought for 1/4 that price. But then I think about it. My current TV is just over 2 years old and I watch maybe 2 or 3 hours of TV a week. Total. That's it. And there are weeks that I don't watch it at all.
The other thing that's been on my list is
Yes, I'm a yuppie and a car geek. I've not been excited by the new restyling of the BMW line but I love the new 3 Series Coupe. A 300hp, turbo charged inline 6 cylinder engine. But then I think about it... I took my current car (1999 323i) in for an oil change this weekend. The sticker on the window said that I was due for an oil change on 5/22/2006 or at 88,000 miles. I currently have 90,000 miles. So assuming the 3 month or 3000 mile oil change that means that since late February I've driven the car a mere 5,000 miles. Should I spend $42,000 on a car that won't get driven even 10,000 miles per year? Doesn't make sense.
So what I'm looking at right now is a wireless connection between my PC and my stereo. The product I'm considering runs $250 and play all the songs on my PC, regardless of format, on my steroe. The remote even has an LCD screen that allows you to scroll through the music on your PC from a different room.
WAY COOL!!!
