Labor Day Weekend, Cont
As if the architecture tour wasn't enough...
Friday I took my bicycle into Performance Cycle to have the rear wheel worked on. Again. I've been frustrated by poor repairs at other, unnamed bike shops. I explained the multiple repairs to the guy and said just get it fixed, please. The repair guy, Paul, went to work and set about wandering around the store.
I've been considering buying a new, light weight bike for weekend exercise riding. Performance had everything on sale plus were knocking off an additional 15% on the listed price. Some good deals. Well, after Paul proved his merit and fixed my tire and it remained inflated I returned to Performance on Saturday (after the boat tour) and ended up with a new toy.
She's light, she's fast, and as has been said, she's fra-gee-lay.
I rode her some on Saturday and Sunday but she got her first real workout today. A hard ridden 12 miles south to the Museum of Science and Industry. Despite the hard ride I was looking for some good spots to take photos. I saw several and the return trip was much longer as I stopped several places.
One thing that has always fascinated me is nature's dominance. Even where humans build Mother Nature works to reclaim it's lost territory. We can fight it on many levels but it adapts and comes back. In quite a few of the photos I took today I tried to capture where nature is fighting back in Chicago.
