Higher Density Communities

Yglesias points out an important point that I hinted at in an earlier post. To reduce carbon emissions from personal transportation one has to have communities that promotes less driving. Many communities, especially the suburbs, have low density zoning laws in place. They do this for multiple reasons, reasons that can be debated as good or bad, but the low density zoning laws strongly encourages the use of automobiles for even the most basic of tasks.
