Dream Weavers

I've said before I rarely remember my dreams. I just remember that I had them. I remember details from two last night.

Junior High Return
I needed to get to my new job. It may have been a 2nd job. It was at Jefferson Junior High School in Woodridge, the JHS I went to.

My brother, Ross, and I were in a neighborhood that surrounds the school.
I think we may have come out of my father's old condo. We hopped into a cab and told the cabbie, "Jefferson Junior High." The cabbie was driving tentatively and after a couple of blocks I asked if he knew where he was going. He didn't. Seems obvious. Why would a Chicago cabbie know where a junior high school in Woodridge is? So I told him it was behind the library. Still know help. Well just continue on the way you're going and make a left at the light.

What used to be open space around the jhs was filled with 3 to 6 story buildings. More condos maybe. And a fast food joint. There were also expansions to the school itself.
As far as I know that is all made up in my dream and it is still open space. I got out of the cab. Where's Ross at this point? I went in the front door and buzzed the door to the main office. It was right where I remember it.

I was buzzed in and a guy from work, Rich, and two women, one younger and one older, are standing there. Rich greets me and thanks me for coming. Tells me he's getting a finder's fee for getting me to take the job as a teacher.
This makes no sense. I barely can stand kids much less junior high brats. Hey it's a dream. He shows me the certificate. He's getting $25. He seems disproportionately happy and proud of that $25.

I start filling out paper work and we chat about the school and some of my memories of it. I finally come up with the name of my home room teacher!
I can't recall it now, what I said in my dream, or if it was accurate. The older lady looks up and says that's her. Either "I" knew or my "dream self" knew that she was going to be her.

She goes and tells me how I always infuriated her because I was content to be average. "Always a 3.4 GPA. Get a "B" one day, a "C" the next, fail the third, then come back and ace the next day. Always just enough to get by."

I woke up about this point with The Lawyer rubbing my back.

Looking For a Condo
The Lawyer and I were standing on Broadway across from her large condo building. We were waiting to meet the agent to show me a condo in her building. Back before we were dating my real estate agent did show me a condo in her building. I see the agent approacing the building and point him out. I don't know why I knew who this guy was. We crossed the street and followed him in.

There was a large gathering of people, probably a dozen, to see multiple units. We gather up and we walk into a door way. To our left is a stairs going up to another door. Some talking happens and we go up to the next level. He knocks on a couple of doors. I'm thinking these are the units he's going to show. Not the one I want to see but we're just tagging along at this point. People come out from those doors and I realize these doors lead to large bedrooms. It's at this point in my dream that I realize we are standing in a very nicely appointed kitchen.

The three people that came out of the bedrooms head down the stairs and out the door. Looking after them I see that the bottom of the stairs is some kind of ante room with a fireplace. It dawns on me that we're on the 2nd floor of a unit. This is way too expensive for me but I might as well look around.
I don't believe there are any multifloor units in this building in real life and I'm sure none on the 1st floor where we entered.

The agent at this point starts to show people around the bedrooms and kitchen. I see The Lawyer wander off to look for herself and I decide to do the same. There appears to be 4 bedrooms surrounding the kitchen (poor, poor design but its a dream). I find another stair way going up to another level! I take it up. I find myself in an absolutely HUGE space. It's divided by walls into about 4 rooms but none of the walls are complete or have doors. There's a library, two sitting rooms with bay window views of Broadway below. My dream self starts contemplating winning the lottery so I could buy this place! I walk by a fireplace. What I believe is the theme to the movie Alien is playing from the fireplace. A mechanical system raises a mechanism from below/around the fire that unfolds into a likeness of the alien teeth. It's bright blue. It's really, really cool!

There's another stairway going up to another level! How big is this place. I go up. There's another woman from the group wandering around. We've found the game and TV room. It's very large too. Another fireplace. That's at least 3. There has to be pool table. Where's the pool table? I wander around the corner and see it there with a plastic cover over it. Right at the corner there is a stream of water coming out of the ceiling. A major leak. I look out towards Broadway and say to the unknown lady, "I didn't know it was supposed to rain today."

My alarm woke me up.
