The suspected pirates ships stopped and then turned away. The pirates could only lament their littleness befor the vast number of dolphins.

* I think this story seems suspect. The dolphins appear to be between cargo ships. The supposed pirate boats could be fisherman (which admittedly pirates disguise themselves as).
