Simmering

A low level of disgust is building in my gut and is developing into full blown outrage. In a nice change of pace, however, I've been busy at work and I haven't had time to really concentrate on putting it into words on the blog.

In 2003 middle school officials found a prescription Advil on one of their students. That student said he got it from a 2nd student. The 2nd student fingered a 3rd student. The 3rd student, a 13 year old girl at the time, was called into the office and her backpack was searched. When they didn't find any more Advil in her backpack they strip searched her.

They strip searched her looking for an Advil. No need to bother with searching her locker or desk. No need to call her parents. No need for any kind of corroborating evidence. Get those clothes off!

Six years later they were in front of the U.S. Supreme Court arguing the righteousness of their actions. And the oral arguments imply the 9 old farts on the court is going to side with the school.

If you want an argument for legalization / decriminalization of drugs, an argument to end this stupid War On Drugs, an argument to declare our 2nd experiment with Prohibition a complete and utter fucking failure, remember the story of Savana Redding.
