3 Sweeps
Dear FSM, this has been a terrible first round of the MLB playoffs. It took just 9 games to eliminate 3 teams.
My Cardinals were the first to fall Saturday afternoon. The Dodgers' pitching ate up the Cardinals line up limiting them to 6 runs for the series. Add to that some painful defensive miscues and almost as many base running errors. When the Cards couldn't score a run in the first inning of the 3rd game after loading the bases - for seemingly the umpteenth time in the series - they were clearly defeated mentally. It took 8 more innings of going through the motions before it could be made final.
I didn't watch much of the Angels/Red Sox series. The Angels have been a very good team for the decade and they took down a struggling Red Sox team. I napped during the final game yesterday but was told that after the game the commentators could do nothing but talk about how sad and disappointing it was for the Red Sox. Never mind that some one actually won the series.
And then, of course, we have the Evil Empire taking away the Twinkies candy. Despite holding a lead in all three games the over matched Twins couldn't hold even one of them. The "fundamentally sound" Twins didn't look it at all and because Nick Punto decided to run through the stop sign his base coach was giving him we all will be subject to every broadcaster regaling at how great Jeter is. I now hate Nick Punto.
