Another Season Comes To An End
It was a cool, damp weekend as we entered the fall softball playoffs. Both my Saturday and Sunday team were good although we weren't number one seeds on either day. We came out and played hard but could not close the deal. Both days we were short players. Saturday's shortage was dominated by wedding related absences. Jamie was on her honeymoon. Niko was in precaina (sp?), the Catholic marriage training. Sunday was injurys. Laura has a broken finger. Andrea a pinched nerve in her shoulder. Little Mike had some mole removed from the back of his shoulder and couldn't swing a bat. And Tom R. was gone from both teams serving in the National Guard. It was frustrating to lose when we were missing so many good players.
On a personal note, my ego got a good stroking in our second game. When I came up to bat the opposing pitcher moved his left fielder WAAAAAY back. I had tagged one ball good in the first game and they were giving me a lot of (undue?) respect.
