Ford Selling Assets
I've blogged before about Ford's problems. Their reliance on low milage big SUVs and how they ruined the prestige of Jaguar. It is all over the news how Ford, Gm, and DaimlerChrysler are struggling in the current car market.
According to the elevator, Ford is soliciting bids for the Aston Martin brand. Apparently there has been a lot of interest and the brand might sell for as much as $1.2 Billion. I would never have expected the Aston Martin brand to be so lucrative. The one thing I did forget about is the new "mini-Aston," the V8 Vantage. I saw one a few weeks ago and it is a beautiful car. With the addition of the Vantage Aston is predicting yearly sales of 5,000 units, compared to the 42 cars they sold when the brand was resurected in the early 1990s. 5,000 units would surpass Ferrari's yearly sales.
