Today's Stat

Today I have a hodgepodge of numbers...

$103,100,000

How much money the Boston Red Sox have shelled out for pitcher Daisuke Matsuzaka. $52 million in salary that could jump to $60 million plus the $51.1 million they paid to Matsuzaka's Japanese team, the Seibu Lions, for the right just to talk to the pitching phenom. That's a hell of a lot of money for a guy that's never pitched in the Majors. I suppose, to some extent, Boston had to do it to prevent the Yankees from getting him.

$16,000,000,000

The total amount of holiday bonus checks that Goldman Sachs will be paying out. It is an average of $600,000 per person and some top performers will get $100,000,000. Here's ABC suggesting how to spend it.

78%

The number of Alabamians (is that the correct term?) that identify themselves as born-again Christians.

38.7 Billion

The number of page views social networking site MySpace has last month. Yahoo! recorded "only" 38.1 billion page views. It is the first time MySpace has surpassed the ubiquitous search engine.
