Nanny State

Living in Chicago I could probably create a whole new category for the Nanny State. I'm thinking Fois Gras, here Bernie. But let's not go there right now.

Meanwhile, Wash Your Hands! The Illinois Leg has introduced a bill to mandate it.

There's already some (yet unconclusive) evidence that the use of these soaps actually create stronger germs. But last year Johns Hopkins found that a lot of the material ends up in fertilizer.
Triclocarban does not break down easily even under the intense measures applied during wastewater treatment. Triclocarban is leading a peculiar double life. Following its intended use as a topical antiseptic, we are effectively and inadvertently using it as an agricultural pesticide that is neither regulated nor monitored.
