Throw Some Junk

I'm not a pitching coach and I don't play one on TV, but Adam Wainright's numbers from last night bring's about a question. In 5 innings he walked one, struck out 7 and gave up 9 hits. He's been a starter for most of his baseball career but spent time in the bullpen last year. I wonder if he is literally throwing too many strikes. If all your pitches are hittable then nobody is chasing bad balls for easy outs.
