Chicago Violence

Mayor Daley: "You know who did it. Don't be blaming the police. Look in the mirror and say, 'I can do better.' ... If you con't turn these individuals in, you'll be marching for the rest of your life."

The Tribune expands on this in an editorial today. They are right! Dead right if you will forgive me for saying so.

I have my issues with the police department at the moment. The number of "rogue" cops seem dispraportionately high and the blue code of silence is completely unacceptable. But the vast majority of the CPD do want to stop this senseless violence. And Daley is right. Maybe the people he addressed don't know the identity of the shooters but someone does. Someone does in almost every case and until the general population is willing to help clean of the streets these killings will continue.
