The Bat

I went to see The Dark Knight last night. I won't put any spoilers into this post but I have to say it did not live up to all the hype. Don't get me wrong, it was a pretty good movie but nothing more than that. If I had a choice of seeing The Dark Knight or Batman Begins again I would choose Batman Begins in a heartbeat.

First, the movie was WAY, WAY TOO LONG. Somewhere in the neighborhood of 2-1/2 hours. There were too many stories going on at once. Second, Heath Ledger did do a good job as The Joker. He out did Nicholson and he made The Joker very creepy. Still, I can't imagine anyone would be discussing this as an Oscar worthy performance if Ledger was still alive. Lastly, as I've seen written elsewhere, this movie is mis-rated. This should have been an R-rated movie, not PG-13. Yeah, yeah, there were no boobies, no foul language, and no blood. But it was a movie about evil and, although not graphic, it was extremely violent. Everybody knows where the disappearing pencil went.
