Random Baseball

If you owned a baseball stadium, what would you do with it during the winter? How about hosting an NHL hockey game?

This Week In Pitchers
  • The Brew Crew go out and get last year's Cy Young Award winner.
  • The Cubs go out and get a pitcher with proven injury problems.
  • The Cardinals are (unofficially) waiting on the return of a two guys that haven't pitched in over a year.
Is this the state of available pitchers? NOTE: I'm counting Wainwright and Carpenter as the two StL pitchers the team is waiting on, not Mulder who had a disastrous 16 pitch start this week.

Who said baseball isn't a contact sport?

Even the 1st place Cubs have an off day. On July 10 the Cincinnati Reds teed off on Cubs pitching sending 7 balls over the ivy. This one by Dunn landed on Sheffield and someone told me it actually hit the building on the other side of the street. You can't see it in this video but the bounce lends some credence to the idea.

This week is the midsummer classic. The All-Star game is Tuesday night. No major league baseball gaems on Monday or Wednesday. Baseball news might be slow next week and I'm closing on my condo so it might be an off week for me to be searching for baseball news. But I will leave this week with this question, why on earth did the players vote Jason Veritek onto the team?
