Your Message On Drugs

We went to the Thompson Center for lunch today. When we got there hundreds of people were protesting in the courtyard. They were caring signs that that alternately said, "Go Back To Springfield. Save our communities" or "Go Back To Springfield. Save our children." They were attempting to walk in a circle and were chanting something similar but in the noise of down town we couldn't understand them. T

he food court in the Thompson Center has an entry to the Blue Line. While we were eating protesters were coming and going carrying the same signs. There was no indication what they really wanted. It wasn't until we were leaving that I saw a small sticker on one of their shirts that read, "I'm in rehab and I vote." OK, beginning to get a picture here. Once we were back on the street one of the protesters handed me a flier outlining how funding for drug rehab facilities was being severely cut (or maybe eliminated).

But no one walking by the protest would have known what was going on just by seeing it.

Sigh...sometimes I can't believe how stupid people can be. :)
