Random Baseball

Yesterday, I learned that Jim Edmonds was released by the San Diego Padres Friday. A sad end to a great career. Even in his last couple seasons with The Cardinals he was not very good. He still showed flashes of brilliance but he just didn't have it any more.

Today, I learned of rumors that The Cubs are looking at the same Jim Edmonds. A friend thinks it might be an OK move if they didn't have Reed Johnson on the team doing what he's doing. I love Jimmy Edmonds but I wouldn't do it.

Another friend and Cubs fan is having his own little write in campaign for Reed Johnson for the All Star game. My personal campaign is for Skip Schumacker. The Cardinals left him off the ballot because when they submitted names during spring training they didn't know if he was going to make the squad. His .292/.362/.409 line is at his career average but he's been playing incredible defense and has, I think, 4 game winning hits this year.

And Dusty Baker is still an idiot. His destruction of another team is well ahead of schedule. The only good out come of Dusty being back in the dugout is that he's not on Baseball Tonight saying, "Just get into slam range." I rather listen to Miller and Morgan than this idiot.
