The Vetting Process

Yglesias makes a point that I was thinking this morning on the train ride to work. The famously rigorous vetting that the Obama team was using in its administration was two tiered. One, a stringent process to weed out any one with a blemish and one, much weaker, that was for the insiders that Obama already knew he wanted.
