Choice A or B
Every gopper in the House of Representatives voted against the stimulus bill. I was asked at lunch if I thought it possible that every one of them thought the bill was that bad.
Actually, I think that they are playing the 2010 Electoral Game. The stimulus bill IS the Obama Stimulus Bill. If it succeeds or fails, Obama will get the credit or the blame. So I think the goppers all lined up against it and actually hope the economy is still in the tank 24 months from now so they can campaign on the issue.
On the other hand, most of the moderate Republicans are gone from the House. The ones left are the true movement conservatives. The true believers. The 20%-ers. Yes, it is possible that after 8 years of deregulation and tax cuts for the wealthy has lead to the worst recession in over 50 years they might believe the only way out is to deregulate and give more tax cuts to the wealthy.
